Club Rules 2021 - 2022
- All members must be in possession of a current EA rod licence. This may be checked before membership is issued.
- Members accept that fishing is a risk sport and that they are responsible for their own safety when fishing at Club waters.
- Members only fishing except at a committee members discretion.
- Fishing is by rod & line only.
- Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
- The upmost respect and decency must be shown to fellow members at all times. Every care must be taken to not encroach on another angler’s space or water.
- Members are to act as bailiffs whilst at our waters. All anglers that you do not recognise are to be asked to present their proof of membership unless you deem it unsafe to do so. Report all incidences of poaching or illegal fishing to an officer of the club immediately.
- Litter must not be left under any circumstances. If you leave litter - you are not a real angler and will be banned for life.
- Guest anglers must be booked in advance with an officer of the club and accompanied by a full member at all times. The full member is responsible for the conduct of guest members at all times.
- Junior anglers must be accompanied by a full adult member at all times.
- Damage or injury to wildlife must be reported to a Club Officer immediately.
- Pike fishing is from October 1st - 31st March inclusive. No dead/live baiting or lure fishing must take place outside of these dates. Live baits must be caught from the same water - no live baits are to be brought in from other waters.
- Pike anglers must be in possession of the following at all times; Large forceps, large wire cutters and large long nose pliers. This rule will be enforced by our Bailiffs. Semi-barbless trebles to be used for pike fishing.
- Specimen &
Pike Anglers: specimen fish must not be retained in a keepnet or a
sack. Floatation slings may be used for
short periods. Specimen anglers are
required to carry & use a large landing net and
well-padded unhooking mat. Minimum 15lb mono to be used for Pike fishing.
- Night anglers (where allowed) are to check in with an officer of the Club via telephone or social media channels.
- No open fires or barbeques - except in Club organised events.
- Parking is in the designated areas only.
- The Club reserves the right to invite guests to fish without notice.
- Organised events take precedence over pleasure angling. Prior notice may not always be given.
- Social media use; helpful & positive comments only. Rude, abusive or unnecessarily negative comments will not be tolerated.

1 TITLE
1.1 The Club shall be called Edge Angling
Club, hereafter to be referred to as "the Club" and shall be
affiliated to the Angling Trust.
2 OBJECTS
2.1 To foster and promote the sport of angling
with rod and line, providing opportunity for recreation.
3 MEMBERSHIP
3.1 All anglers are eligible
for membership, subject to the following conditions:
3.1.1 Prospective members shall
be selected based on their character and attitude towards angling. Membership will only be offered to those who
we feel will enhance and bring benefit to the club. The club reserves the right to deny
membership as we see fit.
3.1.2 All memberships must be
approved by at least 1 committee member.
3.1.3 Once approved, members must agree to be bound by the rules of the club.
3.1.4 All members must pay the appropriate fees.
3.2 There shall be 5 classes of membership
available. These are:
3.2.1 Adult Annual Member (Age 16 or over)
3.2.2 Adult Winter Member (October to March
inclusive, 16+)
3.2.3 Junior Member
3.2.4 Guest Member
3.2.5 Honorary Member
4 OFFICERS
4.1 The Officers of the Club shall be named
at each AGM. They are as follows:

5 ELECTION OF OFFICERS
5.1 Officers shall be decided by the Club
committee at any Committee Meeting.
5.2 Only Members of the Club are eligible for
Officer selection.
6 GENERAL COMMITTEE
6.1 The affairs of the Club shall be
controlled by a General Committee comprising of the Chairpersons of the Club
and 4 other General Committee Members. The General Committee shall meet at
agreed intervals and not less than four times per year.
6.2 The duties of the General Committee shall
be:
6.2.1 To control the affairs of the Club on behalf
of the Members.
6.2.2 To keep accurate accounts of the finances of
the Club. These should be available for reasonable inspection by Members and
should be audited before every Annual General Meeting. The Club shall maintain a
PayPal account and the following Officers shall be authorised use (to pay and
receive money on behalf of the club): Both Co-Chairpersons and any Member of
the Committee that they delegate that responsibility to.
6.2.3 To co-opt additional Members of the Committee
as the Committee feels this is necessary. Co-opted members shall not be
entitled to a vote on the Committee.
6.2.4 To make any byelaws of the club to govern the
control of the fishing and waters held by the club.
6.2.5 To make decisions based on a simple majority
vote. In the case of equal votes, the Chairpersons shall be entitled to an
additional casting vote between them.
7 GENERAL MEETINGS
7.1 The Annual General Meeting of the Club
shall be held not later than the end of March each year. 21 clear days written
notice shall be given to Members of the Annual General Meeting by circulating a
copy of the notice to every member via their email address and by posting the notice
on the Club online forums. Members must
advise the Committee in writing of any business to be moved at the Annual
General Meeting at least 14 days before the meeting. The Committee shall
circulate or give notice of the agenda for the meeting to Members not less than
7 days before the meeting.
7.2 The business of the Annual General
Meeting shall be to:
7.2.1 Receive the annual report
from the Committee.
7.2.2 Inform Members & potential Members of upcoming events and/or
changes to the Club or waters that the Club controls.
7.2.3 Transact such other business received in
writing by the Club from Members 14 days prior to the meeting and included on
the agenda.
7.2.4 Any other business
7.3 Special General Meetings may be convened
by the General Committee, or on receipt by the Committee of a request in
writing, from not less than 4 Full Members of the Club. At least 21 days’
notice of the meeting shall be given.
7.4 At all General Meetings, the chair will
be taken by either of the Chairpersons or, in their absence, by a deputy
appointed by the Club or by Full Members attending the meeting.
7.5 Decisions made at a General Meeting shall
be by a simple majority of votes from those Full Members attending the meeting.
In the event of equal votes, the Chairpersons shall be entitled to an
additional casting vote.
7.7 A quorum for a General Meeting shall be 4
Full Members and 2 Officers of the Club including at least 1 of the Co-Chairpersons.
7.8 Each Full Member of the Club shall be
entitled to one vote on each matter at General Meetings.
8 ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION
8.1 Any proposed alterations to the Club
Constitution may only be considered at an Annual or Special General Meeting,
convened with the required written notice of the proposal. Any alteration or
amendment must be proposed by a Full Member of the Club and seconded by another
Full Member. Such alterations shall be passed if supported by not less than
two-thirds of those Full Members present at the meeting, assuming that a quorum
has been achieved. However, the Co-Chairpersons
can over-rule such a motion if it is felt that it is to the detriment of the
club – the Co-Chairpersons rule is final in all matters.
9 EXPULSION OF MEMBERS
9.1 Members
of the Club whose conduct is inappropriate or who decline to abide by any of
the Rules or Bylaws will be expelled. The fee and subscriptions of the expelled
member will be forfeited. Members shall have the right to appeal in person to
the committee about any decision affecting themselves, provided that notice of
such appeal be submitted to the Chairpersons, in writing, within seven days of
notification of the decision.
10 DISSOLUTION
10.1 If at any General Meeting of the Club, a
resolution be passed calling for the dissolution of the Club, the Committee
shall immediately convene a Special General Meeting of the Club to be held not
less than one month thereafter to discuss and vote on the resolution.
10.2 If at that Special General Meeting, the
resolution is carried by at least two-thirds of the Full Members present at the
meeting, the General Committee shall thereupon, or at such date as shall have
been specified in the resolution, proceed to realise the assets of the Club and
discharge all debts and liabilities of the Club.
10.3 After discharging all debts and liabilities
of the Club, the remaining assets shall not be paid or distributed amongst the
Full Members of the Club but shall be given or transferred to some other
voluntary organisation having objects similar to those of the Club.
10.4 The club shall not dissolve whilst the
Co-Chairpersons remain in office.
