The Lake
Hidden away in the southern-most corner of Wicksteed Park is this mature and weedy lagoon, steeped in local angling history.
Stories of monster Pike and keepnets bulging with specimen Tench are among the many tales told by local picadors. Whilst the extent of the stock in this water is still something of a mystery, our members have reported catches of Tench to 8lb 8oz and Pike to 30lb+.
Over the last 5 years the club has worked tirelessly to improve access, fishing platforms, weed & silt levels and improve stock levels. To date we have added a large number of silvers & Tench, plus a handful of select Carp & Pike.
Work to improve the water level is now complete! Read all about it in this post
Our committee is working hard alongside the Park to restore the 'back-lake' to its former glory - if you wish to be part of the future of this forward thinking club, please contact us using the form on the left.
