Summer Fishing at Wicksteed Lagoon

Summer is finally here and the tench are on the feed!  Once again the average size looks to be around the 5lb mark, so excellent sport on light tackle.  Naturals like maggot, worm and corn are still producing the goods, but the fish are starting to respond to pellet and fishmeal baits now too.

Roach and Perch to over a pound have been falling for float fished maggot too, with the bigger specimens caught just off the weed beds.

Members have also noticed some bigger 'shadows' cavorting in the weeds this spring.  Speculation as to the species, size and weight continues, but we'll leave you guessing for now!

Pegs continue to be cut in and improved.  Finishing off with a dusting of woodchip has really made the lake feel like we have gone up a level!  Its remarkable how the little things make a big difference.  Thanks is extended to all those who have helped at the works parties. We will continue improvements throughout the summer.

Membership spaces continue to fill with anglers looking to fish at a friendly, proactive and well run fishery.  If that appeals to you, please say hello via the contact form on the right.  But, be quick - only a few remaining!

Tight lines!
